Systematic talent management is at the core of successful education systems and companies. With one in four head-teachers eligible to retire in the next four years there is a need for high quality head-teachers to replace them
CTSA will aim to:
Identify and develop teachers with the potential to take on headship. (HM Government 2010:28 para 2.45). The CTSA will work with other Teaching Schools to develop Licenced Courses (eg NPQH) with the Catholic/Church School Leadership element.
Aspiring Secondary Heads
CTSA has successfully applied to the NCTL for funding to participate in providing a programme for aspiring headteachers. To date 6 names have been put forward to the NCTL from the Alliance secondary schools to participate in a programme to motivate aspiring heads.
The CTSA will be involved in an additional programme being proposed by Secondary schools within the Portsmouth Diocese , followed by a mentoring programme using existing headteachers within the Alliance.
The aim of this and similar programmes is to increase the number of applicants for Secondary headteacher positions.
